The first release of 2024 features an overhaul of our caching system.
In Core dna, the records involved in rendering a frontend page vary largely due to the possibility to embed reusable global components, reference (and access) other records or directly query for different entities in the templates. To prevent stale caches, this previously meant that whenever any content on the site was changed, the multi-tier cache was cleared.
With this release, we have improved this behaviour by introducing cache invalidators, which allow us to detect which records where involved in rendering a page. This way, when you are updating any record, only the cache for the involved page is cleared.
We however also give you the possibility to choose between the cache clearing strategy in the settings, and support both a full cache purge on every save as well as manual cache purging.
This improvement will greatly benefit sites using our frontend rendering, as pages are now much more be served from the CDN or our other caches, resulting in faster response times and even reducing the number of billable requests.
