The platform's search is powered by Elasticsearch and split into two independent indices. Each is configured, reindexed, and queried on its own, and there is one of each per site.

Simple Search — Master Index — general full-text discovery across many entity types (pages, blogs, posts, FAQ questions, products). Index the core fields plus your own, then search them through configurable views.
Faceted Search — Facets Index — a product-focused index that returns aggregated facets (brand, color, size, …) with per-value counts alongside the results, to power "refine your results" experiences.

Not sure which you need? Use the master index for site-wide search, and the facets index when you want filterable, countable product attributes in the response.
