Images and documents live in one shared library rather than being attached to individual pages. Upload something once and use it anywhere; replace it later and every page that references it updates at the same time.

Why the discipline matters

A media library is easy for the first few months and painful thereafter. The two habits that prevent most of that pain cost nothing up front:

  • Size images before uploading. A photo straight from a camera is often several megabytes, and oversized images are the most common cause of a slow site.
  • Name files so a stranger could find them. logo-primary-dark.svg beats final-v3.svg in every situation that will ever arise.

Accessibility is part of the job

Alt text is not optional metadata. It is what a screen reader announces and what displays when an image fails to load. Writing it at upload time takes seconds; retrofitting it across a library takes days.
