Content is versioned. Saving adds a revision rather than replacing what was there, which makes editing far safer than it feels the first time.
Three states, not one
- Saved — your edits exist as a revision. The live site is unchanged.
- Active — this revision is the one the record currently points at.
- Published — the record is visible to people who are not signed in.
All three are needed for the public to see your work, and they are the answer to most "it looks fine to me" confusion — signed-in users can see records the public cannot.
Working with other people
The revision model protects you from losing work but does not merge concurrent edits. Two people editing the same page means the second save wins and the first becomes history. Nothing is destroyed; it just has to be re-applied by hand. Say what you are picking up before you start.
