External IDs, Product Listings by Tag and Bug Fixes

Records across the admin can carry an External ID that matches them to their counterpart in an ERP, CRM or PIM. Product descriptions can be listed on the site, on their own or by tag.

Key highlights

  • External IDs: match records to their counterparts in an ERP, CRM or PIM.
  • Product listings by tag: list product descriptions on the site, filtered by one or more tags.

Changes in behaviour

  • Duplicating a record now clears the copy's External ID, so two records never share one.
  • Tag listings of products, blog posts and FAQ questions no longer match a tag that belongs to another site on the account.

External IDs

Records across the admin can now carry an External ID: the id of the same record in another system, such as an ERP, CRM or PIM, so an integration can find it again. The field is on pages, books, units and book pages, blogs and posts, menus and menu elements, layouts, categories and product categories, files, custom entity records, forms, users and people, and on orders, quotes, invoices, refunds and fulfilments. It is edited on the record's own form, can be searched and filtered, and is read and written through the API.

Product listings by tag

Product descriptions can now be listed on the site, on their own or filtered by tag, at descriptions/tags/{tags} under the products route. Tags can be combined to match all of them or any of them, with the same syntax as blog post and FAQ question listings.

Other improvements and bug fixes

  • Fixed large file downloads failing or arriving truncated, and billable request exports are now delivered as a compressed archive so even the largest exports complete and download reliably.
  • Background jobs that fail now release their database connection, so a run of failures no longer degrades the site until later scheduled tasks stop working.
  • Queued work is no longer held up behind unrelated jobs, so tasks complete sooner during busy periods.
  • Form submissions no longer clear cached pages across the site, keeping page load times consistent on sites with heavy form activity.
  • Fixed an issue where environments sharing storage could serve each other's sitemap, returning URLs for the wrong hostname.
  • Record names containing HTML or code are now shown exactly as entered in admin titles, breadcrumbs and listing columns, instead of being mangled or rendered as markup.
  • Record addresses are now generated the same way for every record type, and custom URLs resolve correctly when the underlying path contains special characters and regardless of upper or lower case.
  • Added support for decoding JSON values inside Twig templates.
